Ronnie and Connie Wilkinson opened The Village, Wilkinson’s RCF in the fall of 1983 in a remodeled restaurant building taking care of three residents. By the early 1990s, The Village had 200 residents. Over the years, the facility has undergone many modifications and changes. Private apartments were added in 1989. The Wilkinson’s two sons, Chris and Jason, joined their parents as owners/operators of the business after they graduated college. From that Chris and Jason bought out neighboring land to build The Village West.
Since the 25th anniversary, the family ran business has gone under major renovation. Semi-private rooms were converted to private rooms so that every resident has private accommodations. The South independent apartments became pet-friendly. The Village has added 25 new assisted living private rooms and 12 independent apartments that residents can furnish themselves. The Village of Cameron offers three meals a day, housekeeping, laundry, medication assistance, activities, and 24-hour supervision. The Village has a professional nursing staff including DON (director of nursing), CMT’s, CMA’s, CNA’s, and a house doctor to assist with resident care when needed.
Recent updates of The Village have included a Holistic approach to medicine that focuses on the mind, body and spirit, a very lively activity program that includes spa treatments, socials, exercise group classes, and much more.
